Habitat’s 2nd “Town Hall” Public Meeting Set for Emmitsburg

Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County representatives will be holding their next ‘town hall’ public meeting in Emmitsburg.

This second in a series of monthly meetings will be held on October 20th at Trinity United Methodist Church (313 West Main Street, Emmitsburg, MD) at 7:00PM.    Planning is under way for November’s meeting, which will be held in Brunswick and December’s meeting in Middletown.

The purpose of the series of meetings is to educate the broader Frederick community about Habitat’s mission, the affordable housing crisis, build understanding with Frederick Habitat’s volunteer base, and construct a closer relationship with area churches, as well as allowing time to answer questions from residents and volunteers.  One of the biggest misconceptions about the organization is that Habitat provides ‘free’ homes.  This is one of many incorrect facts that will be addressed through the discussions.

The majority of Frederick’s Habitat homeowners are hard working single parents.  Raising awareness of the affordable housing deficit in our community as well as how the organization operates will be an opportunity to encourage neighbors to help neighbors.
