Families that meet our homeownership criteria become “partner” families.

Completing sweat equity is a condition of home ownership. Habitat negotiates sweat equity hours with the family when qualified. Hours range depending on the family size. Extended family members and friends can contribute up to 40% of the sweat equity hours.

The Partner Family Committee of the Board helps the family with home ownership issues before and after settlement, providing training opportunities and follow-up.

Additionally, the Partner Family Committee provides the following services:

• Builds relationships with the partner family to create consistency for the homeowner.
• Serves as a liaison and advocate for the family.
• Is a mentor to advise and encourage the family on its journey to home ownership.
• Is available to advise and refer if problems occur.
• Fosters responsibility in the homeowner.
