Habitat for Humanity Frederick

About Us

Our Vision

A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Our Mission

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Our Affiliate

Established in Frederick in 1993 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, our mission is to help families in need achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance that comes with affordable homeownership.

In line with our “hand up, not hand out” philosophy, we partner with hardworking Frederick County families who cannot qualify for a conventional mortgage and have no other way to own a home of their own. Our partner families work side by side with volunteers from the community to build, renovate or repair their homes.

As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations do not proselytize. This means that Habitat for Humanity will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith, or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.

Since 1993, Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County has built or renovated 44 homes.  We have mobilized more than 4,500 volunteers and trained partner families in budgeting, home repair, safety and maintenance.

Habitat for Humanity homes are scattered throughout Frederick County communities in Middletown, Brunswick, the City of Frederick, Walkersville, Thurmont, Emmitsburg and Buckeystown.

In addition to building affordable housing, Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County is a designated Neighborhood Revitalization affiliate which serves local neighborhoods by responding to community aspirations with an expanded array of products, services and local partnerships that empower residents to revive their neighborhoods and enhance their quality of life.

Concerned and motivated people from all walks of life have come together to make it possible for Habitat for Humanity to build homes in Frederick County. Churches, businesses and individuals volunteer and donate to support our mission. Dedicated volunteers raise funds, build or improve homes, work with partner families, serve on committees and help with administrative work. Volunteers are the heart and soul of Habitat.
